Explosions at the Victoria Regional Airport on Wednesday were planned by the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms.

The Bureau is teaching local law enforcement how to identify different types of explosions, said Franceska Perot, information officer for the Bureau.

There may be more explosions in the airport area this morning, as part of the week-long training program, Perot said.

“It’s to show the officers different types of explosives and show them what to look for,” Perot said of Wednesday’s explosions.

The officers will use what they learned yesterday to investigate explosions detonated by bureau instructors today, Perot said.

Last year, more than 100 law enforcement officers from the Victoria area participated in the training, she said.

The bureau offers the training for free, Perot said.
