Saltwater that smelled like gasoline overflowed Saturday morning from storage units in Bloomington. Emergency crews were called out to investigate a possible hazardous materials spill when the compressor failed on the disposal system off North Rail Street, according to Lt. James Rosenquest with the Victoria Fire Department. The road was blocked for at least an hour while investigators assessed the situation. They concluded that the overflow, possibly containing a slight amount of gas, was properly contained in the dike system and there was no need to evacuate residents living nearby. The incident was reported to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.
