Bank robbery arrest

YORKTOWN - Yorkton Police Chief Paul Campos said an arrest has been made by the Texas Rangers of a suspect in the Jan. 23 bank robbery of Prosperity Bank, Yorktown, as well as other area banks including Ganado, La Grange, Odem and others. Campos says the suspect, a person of interest in Victoria, has admitted to at least six or seven area robberies. The Texas Rangers who led the investigation and made the arrest were unavailable for comment and therefore not included in this report.

Arrested

VICTORIA - A-30-year old Victoria man at the 900 block of S. Cameron for public intoxication, operating an unregistered bike, operating a bicycle without brakes and no headlamp on bicycle on Friday by officers.

VICTORIA - John Martinez Jr, 40, of Victoria, arrested by deputies after he turned himself in for theft by check less than $500 on Friday.

VICTORIA - Jake Bowman, 22, of Victoria, was arrested by police on a warrant for violation of probation burglary of a vehicle. Bowman was already in adult probation custody at the time of the arrest on Friday.

Wrecked

NURSERY - A 50-year-old female, a 40-year-old male and a 30-year-old female were transported with minor injuries to DeTar in Victoria after a two-vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 87 Saturday. Sean Martinez witnessed the accident while driving behind the vehicles in his tractor trailer forcing him to slam on his brakes and swerve into the ditch. Martinez called 911 to report the incident. Deputies and Victoria Fire Department responded, closing all lanes of traffic for at least an hour.

Injured

VICTORIA - A woman was treated and released from DeTar after being accidentally hit by a stray bb from her neighbors pellet gun, who was shooting targets in north Victoria County. No more information available at the time of this report.
