A $15 million infusion to Victoria’s DuPont polymers plant will bring about 10 new employees and production improvements dur ing the next three years, officials announced Tuesday. CUERO – DeWitt County Sheriff’s Department deputies detained 16 suspected illegal immigrants Monday morning, the third incident in the past nine days that has resulted in more than 30 people detained. “What’s going on is that there is so much enforcement along U.S. Highway 59 and U.S. Highway 77 that it’s natural for them to come up alternate routes and end up on (state) Highway 72 through Karnes County and eventually into DeWitt County,” said Sheriff Jode Zavesky. “It happened last year, too. Army Specialist David McCormick arrived by charter jet in a flag-draped casket at the Bay City Municipal Airport at 9:39 a.m. on Sunday.
