Pilot Scott Hughes of Houston and passenger Thomas Lapp of Winter Garden, Fla., were 50 feet in the air when their Predator Powered Parachute airplane came crashing down after the wind stopped blowing.
“Hughes, while coming in for a landing, began to demonstrate an emergency landing when the wind stopped blowing, sending the airplane down,” said Lt. Alan Spears, Department of Public Safety trooper.
Hughes was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital and Lapp was treated on the scene and released, said Spears.
