UHV graduation takes place Saturday
advertising
Q:When is the UHV spring graduation going to be held? What happens if it rains?

A: About 275 graduates, the most ever, will participate in UHV’s spring commencement at 9 a.m. Saturday in front of the University West building, 3007 N. Ben Wilson.

This grand event signifies the university’s continuing fulfillment of its mission to educate all who come to it and recognize those who have earned all rights and privileges of an advanced degree.

The commencement address will be given by presidential candidate and U.S. Rep. Dr. Ron Paul.

In case the Victoria weather should suddenly turn bad, as it is often known to do with little warning, the event will be moved to 1 p.m. inside Faith Family Church, 2002 E. Mockingbird Lane. Attendees can find out about a move by going to www.uhv.edu or calling 361-570-4848 or 877-970-4848.

Q:I heard UHV is closing its offices for the summer. Is that true?

A:No, UHV is not closing for the summer. However, many UHV offices will be moving to a summer schedule from May 14 to Aug. 5. Offices will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, but will only be open from 8 a.m. to noon on Friday.

The change will affect all departments except the switchboard, information technology and the president’s office.

The schedule change allows the staff to better match the needs of students during the summer. The change was started two years ago based on observation of traffic flow at offices across campus. The new schedule will only affect the Victoria campus.
