AUSTIN – The Cuero Gobblers took a big step toward defending their Class 3A state track and field title Friday by win the 400-meter relay.

Amand Avery-Green, Brent Johnson, Isaiah Glover and Stefon Hargrove combined to run a time of 41.34 seconds to capture the gold medal. Waco La Vega finished second at 41.61.

Through eight events the Gobblers were leading in the team title with 42 points.
