MOULTON – Voters in Moulton, in addition to deciding on one candidate for city council, will also be asked to decide if the 1/4 percent sales tax used for street repairs will be reauthorized.

The tax was approved in 2004 and must be renewed every four years. Since the tax was adopted $53,786.64 has been collected. Of that total, $52,731.40 has been spent on street improvements.

Street projects planned include rebuilding of Main Street and the streets around the school’s gymnasium, said Moulton City Administrator Mike Arnold.

The Main Street project includes about 1,200 feet of work, installation of a median with red brick pavers, decorative lighting and other improvements.

Early voting begins Monday at City Hall, 102 S. Main St.
