Why do you want to serve in this office?
I believe I was elected to the VISD school board because of a strong community base, value for open communications, and demonstrated leadership abilities. Serving on the board has given me experience in working with other board members and staff to achieve many improvements within the district. I am committed to devoting my energy, enthusiasm, and experience for continued progress of our school district, for success of our students, and a bright future for Victoria.
What three issues facing this office do you feel are the most important and how will you approach them?
Control of classroom discipline – continue evaluation of progress and measures in addressing misbehavior. Smaller schools will increase opportunities for student engagement and discipline management.
Ensuring the quality and equity of programs and facilities executing the bond for renovations and new schools - experience/professional attitude of board and staff will be an asset.
Maintain and attract highly qualified teachers - offer competitive benefits and salaries through experience of sound budget management, offer wholesome and inviting learning environments.

Why do you want to serve in this office?
I feel that my educational background and small business ownership provide me with an insight, which will be valuable to the teachers, students and the taxpayers of VISD. My daughters all graduated from Stroman and I have grandchildren attending district schools. As a long time educator I have to do what I can to make our schools the best they can be.
What three issues facing this office do you think are the most important and how will you approach them?

1. VISD has a hard time attracting and retaining teachers. We must develop a competitive compensation plan and support our teachers with resources and training.
2. Student discipline must be addressed and teachers allowed to run their classrooms with administrative support.
3. Taxpayers must feel like their money is being spent wisely and that they are getting what they pay for. Since we already know that all the promised facilities are not going to be afforded by the current bond issue…
