50th Anniversary James and Leoti Stiles Bennett were honored on their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception held at the Fellowship Hall of the First Christian Church in Victoria on March 30, 2008. Jim and Leoti were married at First Christian Church in Victoria on March 29, 1958. The Rev. Roy Tomlinson officiated the ceremony. Their wedding reception was the first held at the newly opened Victoria Women's Clubhouse. Their children are the late Thomas W. Bennett, John Lee Bennett, James W. Bennett Jr., Stephen W. (Lloy) Bennett, Benjamin S. (Holly) Bennett, Leoti Ann Bennett, Melisa Bennett Sharp and Cynthia Bennett (Mark) Meadows. They are grandparents of 13 grandchildren and have three great grandchildren. Hosts for the event were James W. Bennett Jr., and his son James W. Bennett III." more >>

Marie Hicks and Solomon Hill were married on April 9, 1949. Children of the couple are Joyce (deceased), Linda, Lavern, Beverly, Roy, Sharon, Doris, and Solomon Jr. (deceased). The event was hosted by the couples 2 children, Tammy Janak and husband Kevin and Keith Long and wife Cheri; also in attendance were our 4 gransons and a few very close friends. Darlene Rawls and James A. Long were married April 4, 1958 in Stanton, Texas. Al retired from Dupont after 32 years of service while Darlene took care of the home. " more >>

Marvin and Lucille Huse of Victoria are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on April 13, 2008. They were married at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church on April 13, 1958. In honor of the occasion, they will be taking an Alaskan Cruise in September. They were presented with a certificate for an Alaskan shore excursion and a celebratory dinner from their children, Edward and Janet Huse, DeAnna Huse and Tray and Lori Ballard. Marvin and Lucille have 8 grandchildren, Adrianne and Zachary Ballard, Ashley, Allison and Taylor Huse; James and Joshua Rojas, and Katy Smiley. They also have 3 great-grandchildren, Kyra and Trenton Smiley and Collette Rojas. Since their retirement, the couple is actively involved in their church and community service. " more >>

The couples 2 children and their wives, along with a cousin and her husband attended the dinner. Flora Cauble and Earl E. Bluhm were married March 21, 1936, at Baptist Parsonage in Austwell. The couple have 3 children; 2 living and 1 deceased, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Earl is a retired farmer and Flora continues to maintain the household. Buck and Alma Hawes of Victoria celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on March 15, 2008, at Raisin L Ranch with a dinner and dance. This special occasion reunited family and special friends they have met throughout their life together. Alma Drouin and Lloyd "Buck" Hawes were married on March 15, 1958, at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church in Port Lavaca. Children of the couple are Gary and Diana Rigamonti, Tom and Arlene Hawes, and David and Stephanie Hawes. Grandchildren of the couple are Ryan Rigamonti, Jamie Hawes, Sean Hawes, Sarah Hawes, and Shannon Hawes. Buck is a former maintenance supervisor for Alcoa and spends his free time in Port O'Connor. Alma is a former office manager for Dr. Juan Posada and ministers at local nursing homes in the Victoria area." more >>

55th Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Curtis M. Foester recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary with their immediate family and the family of Ada Beth Foester Bone, sister of Mr. Foester. The couple was married on Nov. 22, 1952, at First Baptist Church in Port Lavaca by the Rev. J.W. Caldwell. The anniversary fell on Thanksgiving Day and was celebrated at Lost Pines Resort near Austin. Their two children, daughters, DeLisa Hutchison and Gay Woodward and husband, Mark, hosted the event. Grandchildren of the couple are Capt. Amanda Hutchison, United States Air Force, and Adam Hutchison of Austin. Curtis and DeLona Foester have enjoyed many and varied activities during their marriage. One of their favorites has been the antique car collector hobby, which took them to numerous locations, including Europe. Their favorite collector cars have been the two 1948 Tucker automobiles acquired by Curtis at different intervals. Curtis and friends restored them each to their original condition. After the celebration, Mr. and Mrs. Foester, along with their children and grandchildren, traveled to the Central Texas Museum of Transportation in Rosanky, to tour the huge facility and view the most recently restored Tucker which the museum had just acquired from Curtis; from there the group journeyed to Lockhart where they dined on a family favorite, Texas style bar-be-que at Kruez Restaurant. The couple are active members of Bethel Assembly of God Church in Port Lavaca. A dinner with family and friends followed the event. Agnes Schell and Jim Steelhammer were married on March 2, 1968, at Our Lady of Victory Church. The Rev. Eustace Hermes officiated the ceremony. Children of the couple are Greg Steelhammer and his wife, Lisa, Kevin Steelhammer, and Tracy and her husband, Matt Borgmeyer. The couples granddaughter is Abbey Steelhammer. They will also celebrate by traveling to Copper Canyon in the spring. Ruby Mears and Patrick Tagliabue were married on Feb. 1, 1958, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Victoria. The couple have three children, Donna Tripp and husband, Mike; Trish Surber and husband, Mike; and David Tagliabue. They have 3 grandchildren, James Bartholomae and wife, Jennifer; Brittney Surber and Dustin Surber. Pat retired from DuPont after 36 years and since retirement has spent time hunting and fishing. Ruby retired from Victoria College after 20 years and since retirement has become active in the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. " more >>
