Robert McDonald has been studying the piano for the last 20 years and is a native of Dallas, Texas. Currently working towards a Masters of Music degree at the University of Texas in Austin, he is a pupil under esteemed pianist Anton Nel. Mr. McDonald earned his Bachelors degree from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, where he was in the studio of Dr. Douglas Humpherys. Appearing as soloist with a variety of orchestras that include the SMU Meadows Symphony Orchestra, the Las Colinas Symphony Orchestra, and the Plano Symphony Orchestra, Mr. McDonald recently gave the Texas premiere of Dr. Zack Stanton's Concerto for piano and wind ensemble. He has participated in summer festivals that include the Banff Summer Piano Masterclasses and the Aspen Music Festival and School. In addition to his focus on performing solo piano repertoire, Mr. McDonald enjoys chamber music, collaborating with singers and new music. Past teachers include John Owings, Julian Martin, Robert McDonald of the Juilliard School, Sam Wong and Marcy McDonald.
