Calhoun sweeps Palacios meet

St. Joseph finishes eighth in boys and girls divisions

PALACIOS - Calhoun swept the girls and boys titles Saturday at the Palacios Cross Country Meet, while St. Joseph turned in two eighth-place finishes.

Calhoun’s Ashleigh Gottschault and Ashley Hernandez finished one-two in the girl’s race to pace the Sandies with 38 points. Gottschault ran a time of 9 minutes, 39 seconds, while Hernandez clocked at 9:43.

Josie Kisalus paced the Lady Flyers in 39th place at 11:25. Kisalus was followed by Madison Franklin (40th), 11:33; Holly Parensca (41st), 11:35; Margerie Bradicich (47th), 12:23; Tori Parades (50th), 12:52; Stephanie Kasper (52nd), 13:11; and Emily Janak (56th), 13:34.

Memorial’s Leesa Morales placed fourth with a time of 9:51 and teammate Ashton Wright was 33rd at 11:17.

Calhoun’s Cory Barrientos breezed to the top finish in the boy’s race in 12:07, with East Bernard’s Patrick Pitts second at 12:37.

For St. Joseph, Reno Bradicich placed 25th at 14:08 and was followed by Justin Cordova (46th), 15:12; Shaleen Vasavada (51st), 15:35; Tixo Humberto (52nd), 15:36; Bracen Eichhorn (64th), 16:03; Daniel Stein (69th), 16:31; and Chris Kisalus (77th), 17:30.

Memorial’s Adam Adame finished in the top 10 placing seventh with a 13:02, while Ralph Ramirez was 17th at 13:37 and Jason Pate 53rd at 15:36.
