Jorey Schroeder has a tough time defining confidence but has no problem showing it.

That will help this week as the St. Joseph senior is competing in Wales at the 2008 World Field Archery Championships.

“Other people have different definitions of confidence,” Schroeder said. “You can take it to too high of a level and over think it. I just see confidence as knowing you are going to do your best.”

Schroeder, who is one of three Americans in the Junior Recurve Division, won first place at the National Field Championships in Spokane, Wash. to qualify for the international championship.

“I think it will be a great experience where I’ll get to meet new people and challenge myself in a new atmosphere,” Schroeder said. “I’m competing against the best from other countries so it’s time for me to do my best and show what I have.”

The championship is being represented by 28 countries and 310 competitors.

“I’m looking to do my best and win gold,” she said. “It would be great to do that for the USA.”
