Which cafe is the best in the Crossroads region?

We want to know what dining place you consider the best cafe in the Crossroads. Keep in mind what a small-town café is - no chain restaurants, lots of home cooking, too-good desserts and plenty of gossip among the regulars.those kinds of things.

Let us know which cafes you think fit the bill and why. We'll also be asking our staffers, especially our ranging reporters, which ones they recommend. We'll tabulate the results and report back to you the first week of February.

Send your nominations with reasons why to slong@vicad.com, fax to 361-574-1220 or send through the mail to the Victoria Advocate, Best Café Contest, 311 E. Constitution St., Victoria, Texas77901. Deadline is 5 p.m., Monday, Jan. 12.

  • For my money -- and appitite -- give me Ramsey's on Navarro in Victoria. Wide variety of food, well prepared (the breakfasts are wonderful), reasonable prices, and a friendly wait staff (I'm usually, Hon or Sugar). I've never had an unpleasant experience in Ramsey's and have never been disappointed in the quality or quantity of the food.

  • The Ganado Cafe serves absolutely the best food around. Great service, small town atmosphere, and CLEAN.
