Two teenagers were transported to a local hospital Tuesday night after the car they were passengers in hit a light pole and water valve in Victoria.

A 16-year-old boy was driving a Dodge truck "at an excessive speed" out of the parking lot of Academy Sports & Outdoors onto Glasgow Street at around 12:10 a.m. when the vehicle collided with a pole and valve, Victoria Police Sgt. Robert Rogers said.

His 15 and 14-year-old male passengers were transported to a hospital in Victoria, Rogers said. The driver was not.

Rogers did not know what hospital the two boys were taken to or the injuries they sustained.

However, he said none of the injuries were life-threatening.

Neither alcohol nor drug use was believed to have contributed to the accident.

  • Mom & Dad will soon be punished for lil Johnnies mishap by the insurance company. If I were his parents, he wouldn't be allowed behind the wheel until he was either 18 or had a job to pay his own insurance.

  • What about consequences? Will this teen and/or family pay any part of repairs to light pole or valve?(Why should taxpayers foot the bill?) Having to pay might go a lot farther than just a stearn warning. Also, was citation issued for "failure to control a motor vehicle"? What if next time it's a person there instead of a light pole?

  • hville, my 15 year old has a permit now. It is now changed where the other person in the car with them must be at least 21, which I like much better. At 16 , they get license, but can only have 1 person in car with them for 6 months unless it is a family member.I am glad to see that drugs and alcohol did not play a part.Just teenange mentality of speed. When will they learn.
