New Year's Day schedule for governmental offices and other services in the Victoria area includes:

GARBAGE SCHEDULE

Normal garbage collection will resume Jan. 2. There will be no yard waste collection on Jan. 2.

The last day for extra holiday trash, placed in plastic or paper bags or in regular trash containers, to be collected is Jan. 2.

The brush site, landfill and recycling center will be closed Jan. 1.

CITY, COUNTY AND STATE OFFICES

City and state offices and UTMB will be closed Jan. 1.

County offices and Workforce Solutions Golden Crescent will be closed Jan. 1.

Victoria County Tax Office will be closed on Jan. 1.

Victoria Transit will be closed Jan. 1.

All emergency services will continue to operate through the holiday.

MUSEUMS

Nave and McNamara House and Children's Discovery Museum will be closed.

LIBRARIES

Victoria Public Library will be closed.

Victoria College/University of Houston-Victoria Library will resume regular operating hours Monday.

TEXAS ZOO

Will be open.

U.S. POSTAL SERVICE

The post office will be closed. Express mail delivery only on both days

FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS

1st Victoria, Wells Fargo, American Bank, IBC, Bank of America, Prosperity Bank, Capitol One and Trust Texas Bank will be closed. First Convenience Bank will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday.

COLLEGE AND UNIVERSITY

Victoria College and the University of Houston-Victoria will remain closed through Jan. 4.

SCHOOLS

All public and private schools will be closed through Jan. 2. They will resume regular classes on Jan. 5.

VICTORIA ADVOCATE

The Victoria Advocate will be closed. A customer service representative will be available between 6 and 10 a.m by calling 361-574-1200.

The newsroom will have a reporter available from 9 a.m-6 p.m.

Deadlines for submitting obituaries is noon for Jan. 2 publication.
