Rick Noriega, Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate, will be speaking at the Vera Cruz restaurant in Victoria about his candidacy at 6:30 tonight.

Noriega has been a member of the Texas House of Representatives since January 1999, being elected from District 145 in 1988. While in office, he worked on legislation for economic development, financial aid for custodial grandparents, children’s’health insurance and Medicaid eligibility, tuition assistance for some Texas Army National Guard members, and authored House Bill 1403, which made Texas the first state where certain immigrant children could receive in-state tuition rates and financial aid to attend college.
