The Victoria County Genealogy Society held its monthly meeting on June 9 at the Fellowship Hall of First Christian Church, 2109 N. Ben Jordan St.

Billye Jackson, vice president, conducted the meeting in President Larry Wedel’s absence.

Jackson also presented the program for the evening, “A Peek Into Some Online Paid Databases” and “A Quick Look at Four Genealogy Programs.” Jackson, born in Victoria County, began researching in 1964, after being presented a pile of papers by an uncle for organization. Her family moved to Louisville, KY where she lived until retiring in 1990.

Jackson announced that the Family Bible project will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 26 at the Victoria Public Library. Everyone who has a Bible with any family records is invited to stop by for either digital photos or scanning records for preservation and sharing of information.

Doris Obsta reported that next month’s meeting will be a social event, which will include a meal with ice cream. Wedel will include a short read from the booklet “The King of Prussia and a Peanut Butter Sandwich.”
