Victoria Northwest captures District 27 Area I baseball title

CUERO – Victoria Northwest captured the Area I championship on Wednesday night with a 7-4 win over Cuero.

Northwest will play the winner of the Area II tournament.

District 27 11-12-Year-Old Area II

Bloomington rallied from a 5-0 deficit to take a 16-10 win over Victoria Southeast on Wednesday at Elder Field.

Bloomington will play Victoria Northeast in the championship game today at 7 p.m. at Elder Field.

If Bloomington wins, the teams will play again Friday at 7 p.m.

District 27 11-Year-Old

INEZ – Victoria Northwest defeated Victoria Southwest 6-1 on Wednesday night. Northwest will play Northeast in the championship game today at 7 p.m. If Northwest wins, the teams will play again Friday at 7 p.m.

District 27 9-10-year-old Area II

EDNA – Calhoun County defeated Edna 9-2 in an elimination game Wednesday. Calhoun County will play Victoria Northeast for the championship today at 7 p.m. If Calhoun County wins, the team will play again Friday at 7 p.m.

District 27 11-Year-Old Softball

INEZ – In Thursday’s games, Victoria Southeast beat Cuero 12-1 and Falls City defeated Ganado 11-1 in an elimination game.

In today’s games, undefeated Calhoun County and Edna will play at 6 p.m. and Victoria Southeast will play Falls City at 8 p.m.

9-10-Year-Old Area Softball

EDNA – In Wednesday night’s game, Industrial edged Edna 10-9 and Bloomington beat Calhoun County 17-6.

District 31 11-12-Year-Old South Zone Softball

YOAKUM - The Hallettsville All-Stars won the title with a 14-3 win over Yoakum.

Lana Hickson pitched a one-hitter and struck out seven in going the distance for Hallettsville. After a three-run Yoakum first, Hickson retired 13 of the final 17 batters and the game called after five innings because of the mercy rule.

Liana Stock went 2-for-4 with and inside-the-park home run, two RBI and four runs scored to lead Hallettsville.

Hallettsville awaits the winner of the North Zone and will play again on July 7.

    I didnt see the LL girls pic??? Tonight I believe is the championship for them in Inez. weather pending.

  • I hear Bloomington has a good team. Congrats! The VICAD has done pretty good w/ coverage. There is numerous teams playing on same night in different locations -both sexes. Now if the champs from both areas meet for the D27 title then you can have more coverage. Try this- you posted here. Now post pic of your game online with stats. I would love to see the names and highlights. Go to your boards, they need to learn to create a web space. Someone can put pics, stats, travel, hotels, etc.

    I too have to make a choice on who to see.
