BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington school officials know what needs to be done to improve the district’s facilities, but they are still discussing priorities and the cost.

On Monday, during a meeting with the school board and the bond election committee, they did determine they want to keep the spending to no more than $7.5 million.

The committee and board have been working with Fromberg Associates Architecture and Robert Gadbois of Owners Building Resource as their program manager to help determine what work would be proposed and how much it would cost.

The proposal will be taken to the voters in the Nov. 4 election.

The list consists of new libraries for all campuses, combination science classrooms, a new field house, a possible new track and other renovations.

“I am going to price what has been proposed for renovations or for new facilities and then when we meet again we will decide what should stay on the list and what should go,” Gadbois said.

The bond committee, which consists of school board members, parents, teachers and community members, developed a priority list at the June 9 workshop.

“Nothing is final yet and we are still taking input from the community,” said interim Superintendent Brad Williams.

The committee and Gadbois will meet again at 6 p.m. on Monday, July 28, at the administration building, 2875 Farm-to-Market Road 616 to discuss prices.

“Some of the items on our list can be taken care of through the budget,” Williams said. “We just need to prioritize and see what we can keep or do without.”
