A three-week ban on outdoor burning in Victoria County was lifted Monday by County Judge Don Pozzi.

“We’ve had a considerable amount of rain this past week,” he said. “Everything looks pretty safe out there now.”

Pozzi has been given authority by the commissioners court to enact and lift burn bans. The commissioners vote later whether to ratify the action.

Pozzi said if people have been stockpiling material to burn, they need to use care.

“This is not an invitation to go out there and go crazy,” he said. “Don’t leave a fire unattended.”
