Q: I want to take a few classes at UHV in the fall. When can I start registering?
A. You can register for classes right now. Fall registration opened at 8 a.m. on June 23. You can register for fall classes until noon on Aug. 22.
You’ll find everything you need to apply and register at the UHV Web site, www.uhv.edu.
Or, for a bit more personal assistance, you can contact UHV’s Student Solutions office to get answer to your questions about admissions, registration and even financial aid by calling 361-573-0000 or 1-800-687-3738.
Q: I’m working on my degree, but I also like to take classes just to broaden my perspectives. Is UHV offering anything new this fall that might perk my interest?
A. UHV has a host of fascinating classes that can enlighten as well as move you closer to a bachelor’s or master’s degree. The list of such offerings grows every semester, and the new classes for the fall 2008 semester are no exception.
For example, if your interests lean in an easterly direction, UHV will begin offering Asian Religion and Culture. The master’s-level course will cover the history, social customs and art of India, China, Japan and neighboring cultures. UHV also will offer Yoga as philosophy and Practice. The course will introduce students to the diverse philosophical heritage of yoga and a broad range of yoga practices. You don’t even have to practice yoga to take the class.
If your cultural curiosity stays a little closer to home, Hispanic Heritage, Culture and Civilization to 1848 will give an overview of the history of pre-Hispanic cultures from their origins through colonization and interaction with European explorers and settlers.
Or, if you are interested in how America really conquered polio or developed the current way we treat cancer, you might want to take History of American Health Care.
Perhaps you just think you could write a better movie than the last few flicks you’ve caught at the theater. UHV can help with Screenwriting and Advanced Screenwriting to teach you how to do it right.
You can learn more about these classes by calling Tracey Fox, senior recruiter in the School of Arts & Sciences, at 361-570-4233.
To find out more information about all the classes offered at UHV, go to www.uhv.edu and click on “course offerings.”
And stay tuned for the full 2008-2009 course catalog online at www.uhv.edu/catalog, coming in late July.
