SEGUIN - The Yoakum All-Stars (11-12) won the District 31 championship Tuesday night in Seguin with a thrilling 4-3 extra-inning win over the North Zone Champion Seguin All-Stars.

Bobo Rivera’s single with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning scored Reagan Jacobs with the game winner. Rivera pitched the final three innings to pick up the victory for Yoakum, the District 31 South Zone champ, which advances to the sectional tournament in New Braunfels. ]

Yoakum will play District 27 champion Victoria Northeast on Saturday at 8 p.m. in New Braunfels.

Calhoun Wins Two

PORT LAVACA - Calhoun swept Industrial 8-6 and 10-1 in the District 27 13- and 14-year-old tournament.

Calhoun will face Victoria West today.

Softball

Seguin downs Hallettsville

YOAKUM - Seguin scored seven runs in the first three innings and held on to take a 7-4 win over the Hallettsville All-Stars to win the District 31 Major League (11/12) softball title Tuesday.

The win gave Seguin a sweep of the best-of-three series.

Hallettsville rallied for four runs in the fourth inning on a bases loaded walk to Cassidy Targac and RBI singles by Kenzie Etzler and Heather Henneke.

Olivia Bohuslav scored Hallettsville’s final run in the fifth inning after reaching on an error.

Seguin defeated Hallettsville 1-0 in the first game Monday in Seguin.

Seguin’s Ciara Luna threw a two-hitter and struck out 15.

Cassidy Targac gave up just three hits in defeat and struck out five.
