AUSTIN (AP) — Here is the weekly fishing report as compiled for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for July 9. (Report also available on Web as www.txfishing.com.)
Water clear. Black bass are slow. Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish are good on frozen shrimp, minnows, and stinkbait. Yellow catfish are slow.
(At Colorado Bend State Park) Water stained. Black bass are slow. Striped bass are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are slow. Catfish are very good on trotlines baited with live perch and shad, and from the bank on rod and reel baited with nightcrawlers and shad.
Water clear, 95 degrees. Black bass are fair on watermelon red and watermelon gold Carolina rigged soft plastics in1218 feet off points, and on topwaters and buzzbaits early and late. Channel and blue catfish are fair on juglines baited with shrimp and cut shad.
Water murky, 84 degrees, 0.82 feet low. Black bass are slow. Hybrid striper are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish are slow. Yellow catfish are slow.
Water clear, 83 degrees, 13.98 feet low. Black bass are good on plum worms, smoke grubs, and bone topwaters in 10-25 feet. Striped bass are slow. White bass are fair on chrome topwaters and white grubs in 10-30 feet. Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish are good on bloodbait and nightcrawlers in 25-40 feet. Yellow catfish are slow.
Water stained, 85 degrees, 17.21 feet low. Black bass are good on spinnerbaits, swimbaits, and topwaters along the edges of trees in 6-12 feet, and on Carolina rigged soft plastic worms and watermelon flukes and Senkos in 18-24 feet. Striped bass are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are slow. Catfish are good on cheesebait and punchbait in 18-24 feet. Mexican fishing licenses are required to fish Mexican waters. Everyone in the boat must have a Mexican fishing license whether fishing or not. Mexican boat permits are no longer required.
Water stained, 83 degrees. Black bass are fair on crankbaits and dark soft plastic worms in reeds and near the jetty and dam. Striped bass are good on liver and shad off points near the pier, and down rigging silver and gold spoons near the jetty and dam.
Water lightly stained, 92 degrees, 2.58 feet low. Black bass are good on deep running crankbaits and white/chartreuse spinnerbaits. Crappie are slow. Drum are fair on nightcrawlers. Channel and blue catfish are fair on cut bait and punchbait. Yellow catfish are good on juglines baited with perch.
Water clear, 91 degrees (98 degrees at discharge), 2.24 feet low. Black bass are slow. Striped bass are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows. Channel and blue catfish are good on trotlines baited with liver, stinkbait, and live bait. Yellow catfish are fair on trotlines baited with live perch.
