A number of musicians and former baseball players are expected to return to Victoria in October for the 27th annual Heartland Alliance-Maverick Engineering Bluebonnet youth Ranch Celebrity Golf Tournament.
A kickoff luncheon was held Wednesday at Victoria Country Club, the site for the annual event, to announce those who have committed so far to this year’s event.
This year’s tournament is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 12 and Monday, Oct. 13 with 10 a.m. shotgun starts.
Event host Red Steagall released the list of stars expected at the event and who will take part in the Monday night celebrity showdown, while longtime event coordinator Claud Jacobs released the list of former major league ballplayers who are expected to attend.
Among the performers expected back are Con Hunley, Danny Steagall, David Magee, Dusty Drake, Ed Bruce, Jan Howard, Gary P. Dunn, Fiddling Frenchie Burke, Mundo Earwood, Marilyn Sellars and George Chambers and the Country Gentlemen.
Among the former big leaguers expected are Carl Warwick, Frank Kostro, Gary Bell, Joel Horlen, Larry Dierker, Rich Rollins, Terry Puhl and Phil Garner, along with current Washington Nationals pitcher Ryan Wagner. Former San Antonio Spur Mark Olberding is also expected to return after making his first appearance last year.
