NEW BRAUNFELS - Victoria Northeast rallied for six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and went on to a 9-3 win over Yoakum in the Major League (11/12) Sectional 4 Tournament Saturday night.

Northeast’s rally snapped a 3-3 tie.

Northeast sent 11 batters to the plate in the fifth inning. Jerry Vasquez, Daric Miller and Trent Whitley had RBI singles in the inning, while Hunter Perkins drove in a run with an infield out and Miles Davidson knocked in a run with a double.

Yoakum scored all of its runs in the first inning on a two-run double by Dylan Barton and a run-scoring infield hit by Shawn Brandt.

Perkins got Northeast on the board with a two-run homer after Jonathan Ortega led off with a single in the bottom of the first.

Perkins singled in the fourth inning and eventually scored on a wild pitch to tie the score at 3-3.

Perkins got the win in relief and gave up just three hits and no runs in 5 2/3 innings. At one point, he retired 10 batters in a row.

Timmy Blankeney was 2-for-3 to lead Yoakum and Reagan Jacobs singled.

Ortega had two hits in four at-bats with two runs scored for Northeast and Perkins was 2-for-3 with three RBI.
