Editor, the Advocate:
Can you smell the coffee?
This thing with Victoria’s law enforcement (i.e. Sheriff Ratcliff) is just... well, words can’t explain how bad it is here in Victoria. There are so many cover-ups here and bad deals made through our law enforcement. If people only knew. It would make you want to leave town. Wake up people and smell the coffee brewing. They are going to let Ratcliff off with only a slap (not even a slap) on the wrist. Oh, but poor Ratcliff is poor and in bad health. So everyone who is poor and in bad health gets off easy. Seems we as the citizens of Victoria could do something.
In my opinion, he should get more than the minimum because he is/was a law-enforcement officer. Just like Michael Vick, he got off cheap because Vick was a football player. These people who are widely known and who represent the law should be held to a higher standards than the rest of the public. Our children look to them for guidance, and what do they see? No wonder our children are hard to control; they see that these officials are getting away with it, so they think, “I can too.”
Can you smell the coffee yet?

I'd love to know what information you have in regards to an alleged cover up with our Law Enforcement. We're all aware that things don't add up with Ratcliff but that doesn't necessarily mean that all of Victoria LE is corrupt. You need to get facts you can PROVE before you go pointing fingers doll.

July 15, 2008 at 9:27 p.m.well duran, i agreed with up until the point when you said kids looking up to our law enforcement is the reason why they are hard to control...
First off, the majority of law enforcement in this town consists of good, hardworking men and women. Secondly, the kids that are hard to control are NOT the same kids who are looking up to law enforcement. Kids that are hard to control are that way because of lazy parents who don't property discipline them and expect someone else to step in and do it.
NEWS FLASH PEOPLE: Kids do not grow up on their own. They do not just magically learn to be law abiding well mannered people. They get that way by having parents who are willing to beat their A SSES when they do something wrong.
You're right, there are definently some bad things going on in Victoria with respect to our justice system. But stop giving lazy kids and their worthless parents and excuse for their behavior.
July 15, 2008 at 11:52 a.m.I am here to waiting to know? you seem to know more than we do ... So lets hear it!
July 15, 2008 at 7:53 a.m.well it doesnt take a guensis to figure it out. if you read the papers and add 2 +2 doesnt add up to be 4.
July 15, 2008 at 7:42 a.m.Danita, why not share some of this information you apparently know? What cover-ups are you referring to? You're obviously not very well-connected to any situation, or you'd probably realize that it wasn't very smart to write letters to the editor about them.
Since you're so in the know, I'm waiting to be enlightened. Don't let me down.
