Editor, the Advocate:
Re: Recent discussions regarding wind and nuclear energy. In order for our country to remain powerful, we must rid ourselves of dependency on foreign oil (short term) and fossil fuels in general (long term). To accomplish these goals, we must develop viable alternate energy sources. Until technology comes up with something better, wind and nuclear energy are two resources we can begin to utilize now. Both have costs and risks involved, but, for the time being, they are our best choices for the near term. It would be somewhat easier to pay $4 a gallon for gas if I knew that my money was being utilized in the United States to achieve energy independence rather than going to foreign countries that already have more money than they know what to do with. I think Victoria and the surrounding areas need to support energy independence, even if it means having a nuclear power plant in our area. They have to put them somewhere. Why can’t Victoria set the example?
