A planned burn Wednesday at the Victoria County brush site near the airport was briefly out of control.

Victoria Fire Department firefighters were able to contain the fire in a matter of minutes said Jerry James director of Environmental Services for the city.

James said the city was burning brush so they would not have to move it to the new location south of state Highway 185 at the Victoria Landfill.

The new site which is being developed at this time is scheduled to open in 90 to 120 days.
