Editor, the Advocate:

There is a foolish idea circulating that women who live in convents have run there for protection and to hide because they are afraid of the world. Somehow, goes the rumor, the Sisters settle for a life of spiritual complacency. How far from the truth could one be?

This Saturday’s news story on the Jubilee celebrations of Sisters Constance, Jeanne de Matel, Annunciata and Callista reveal women united in prayer, women aware of the issues that confound us, women in many fields of expertise who address the woes that threaten human freedom and dignity and women who stand fearlessly and daily in the line of fire.

The Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament continue to open their doors to women and men, wealthy, poor, friend and alien to join in prayerful discernment seeking viable solutions and discoveries to the issues that challenge us. Gathering each day to harvest the Word that becomes Christ’s Body, the Sisters are right where God calls them to be!
