At least Hurricane Dolly is bringing some good news: The storm likely won’t affect gas prices.
Henry Luddeke, the southwest wholesale manager for Western Petroleum in Cuero, said the storm is not big enough to affect oil production, and it’s not hitting any areas where there are oil refineries.
“Now if it were hitting around the Corpus Christi or Houston area, it’d be a different story,” he said. “But right now oil prices are down 10 cents on the commodities market.”
American Petroleum Institute spokesman Bill Bush said even if the storm should affect oil production areas off the coast, the industry is good at getting things back online as soon as possible.
“Whenever an act of God disrupts oil production, they are very good at keeping their operations going and working hard to keep things running,” he said.
