It’s a triple threat at the final performance for the fourth annual Charity Concert series.

Series organizers are bringing back the popular Songwriters Showcase, which this year will feature Dan Roberts, Danny Steagall and Dusty Drake. On Aug. 7, all three will hit the stage together to perform some of their greatest hits to help benefit area organizations.

All proceeds from the show will benefit the Bluebonnet Youth Ranch, St. Joseph High School, the Victoria Lions Club and the Victoria Symphony.

Between the three, they have written hits for the likes of Garth Brooks, Mark Chesnutt, Janie Fricke, Gretchen Wilson and the Oak Ridge Boys, among others.

“I’m really looking forward to performing in Victoria and supporting the Blue Bonnet Youth Ranch,” Steagall said. “I believe in what they are doing and I’ve seen the results of their effort. It’s a very noble thing the Victoria community does to help those children and I’m proud to be a small part of that.”

Steagall, who is the brother of musician Red Steagall, has written close to 300 songs since his music career began in 1976. Some of his more notable hits include “Everytime I think It’s Over” by Conway Twitty and “Politically Uncorrect” by Gretchen Wilson and Merle Haggard.

“This is my first time doing the Songwriters Showcase and it’s an honor to be in the presence of two other great talents,” he said.

Roberts grew up singing in a barbershop quartet with his father and two brothers, which sealed his love of music. He wrote his first song as a freshman in college about a girl who broke his heart.

“It’s OK though now. I’m over it. I mean, it was 35 years ago,” he joked.

Throughout the years, he has written several songs for Garth Brooks, including the 1996 No. 1 hit “The Beaches of Cheyenne.”

“Doing a showcase is one of my favorite things to do; to be up there on stage with other songwriters and listen to their songs,” he said. “It’s just very enjoyable and relaxing, and you get to listen and tell stories about how these songs were written.”

Drake’s hits include Joe Diffie’s single “C-O-U-N-T-R-Y” and his own hits “Say Yes” and “At a Honky-Tonk Near You,” which are featured on his album “Dusty Drake at a Honky-Tonk Near You.” After moving to Nashville in 1993, Drake eventually found success, not only as a songwriter for others, but also with his own music. His debut CD dropped in 2003, and he was signed to Big Machine Records in 2007.
