An unattended burn barrel that caught on fire Monday afternoon destroyed over $7,000 worth of property, investigator Kelly Phelps with the Victoria Fire Department, said.

The burn barrel was located in the 200 block of Horseshoe Drive. The fire burnt down a shed that was next to a fence line, destroying about $7,000 worth of Christmas decorations and other family items, Phelps said. The shed was valued at $500.
