Cox, of Rockdale, has had a successful summer competed on the Region VI junior high school rodeo circuit where he qualified for the Texas Junior High Rodeo Finals in early June.
He placed first in tie-down calf roping and chute dogging and was third in ribbon cutting with his partner, Katie Wojciechowski of Tarpley. With the success he also won the boys state all-around title.
He qualified for the 2008 Wrangler Junior high National Finals rodeo in Gallup, N.M. in early July and was one of 873 participants at the event.
His success continued with him and Katie winning the national champion ribbon roper and runner titles as well as a fifth-place finish in tie-down roping to again snare the national all-around boys championship.
