SAN ANTONIO - Despite a slight stumble Tuesday, Victoria Country Club assistant golf pro Joe Mitchell Jr. earned a spot in the national PGA TaylorMade-Adidas Golf Assistant’s Championship.

Mitchell followed Monday’s opening round 71 with a 1-over 73 to finished tied for second at the 2008 Southern Texas PGA TaylorMade-Adidas Golf Assistant’s Championship at The Club of Sonterra’s north course.

Brian Bohlig, who began the day tied with Mitchell carded a 6-under 66 to claim the individual title with a two-day 137, seven shots ahead of Mitchell and David Von Hoffman of Austin.

Brandt Kieschnick of Huntsville, and formerly of Bay City, came back from an 80 to shoot a final-round 71 to finish at 151 and tied for eighth.

Katy’s Toby Grubert, formerly of Yoakum, patched together rounds of 76-80 to finish at 156 in the 36-hole event.
