Singer Matt Moscatelli will be putting on a benefit concert for Hospice of South Texas on Sunday.
Formerly of Victoria, Moscatelli was classically trained in music in college. Now living in the Dallas area, the 28-year-old will be coming back to perform as a thank you to Hospice.
“Hospice helped a lot when my grandmother passed away in 2005. In the months before she died, they were always there checking on her when we couldn’t be,” he said. “It felt good knowing someone was looking out for her. It’s such a great organization and I wanted to include them in my concert.”
This is the third benefit concert Moscatelli has put on for Hospice since 2005, he added.
The concert is free, although donations to Hospice will be accepted, and the program is eclectic, featuring songs from Beethoven to the Beatles.
The concert begins at 5 p.m. Sunday at the Leo J. Welder Center, 214 N. Main St.
Moscatelli will also be performing Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. at the Victoria Mall to give a preview of Sunday’s concert.

I agree, Chattykatty. Hospice of South Texas was a godsend during my mother's illness a couple years ago, and there never seemed to be enough words to tell them "Thank You." So we reqested people to make donations to HoST instead of sending flowers to the funeral service. It helps to defray their costs, at least a little bit. It is a small gesture, but one that helps.
