Editor, the Advocate:
Jimmy Carter allows his personal bias, over blown ego, and need to be in the spotlight interfere with and denigrate American foreign policy. Who gave him a mandate to undermine our diplomatic procedures? Should he not be held accountable for the evil he helps propagate?
That the man is an anti-Israeli bigot is proven in his past and present actions.
Carter aspires to have people think of him as an expert on the Middle East. One example of his vast knowledge and expertise in the area was his handling of the Iran hostage crisis. Choosing to believe Arafat and ignore Saudi Prince Bandar’s accusation that Arafat’s rejection of the 2001 peace proposal was “a crime” and that Arafat’s account “was not truthful” is another. A third example of his expertise was laying a wreath on the tombstone of Yassir Arafat (the worst despot ever to snatch war from the arms of peace). Following this trend, I am sure he understands the term “hudna” (a pause to re-arm) as well as he understood The Ayatollah Khomeini.
In closing dear reader, how would you address the issue of cartoons expressing disparagement of ex public officials or other famous figures? Do you advocate riots such as occurred in Denmark? Should we ban any criticism of all ex-presidents, or just the ones of whom you approve? Jimmy “Peace in our Time” Carter is not owed an apology by the Advocate or any other newspaper; rather he owes the American people an apology.
