Victoria County voters with disabilities might find it easier to cast ballots next time they go to the polls.
The county commissioners court approved a $1,750 federal grant on Monday. The money will be used to buy such aids as sheet magnifiers and styluses.
“We have some equipment now,” said George Matthews, the county elections administrator. “I would like to augment that so we have just a little bit more. Right now it’s spread pretty thin across the precincts.”
The equipment should be available by the November election, he said.
The grant money comes from the U.S. Elections Assistance Commission and is funneled through the Texas secretary of state’s office.
