The Children’s Discovery Museum wants teenagers between the ages of 12 and 18 to participate in its Youth Volunteer Program.

Youth volunteers assist with camps, birthday parties, clerical work and exhibit interpretation, repair, and maintenance.

There is an application and review process.

Veteran youth volunteers aren’t required to repeat the interview, but they must update their files and attend the orientation. An orientation for youth volunteers and their parents is 9 a.m Saturday at the museum. Applications may be picked up at the museum between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday or call 361-485-9140.

At the orientation, there will be a light breakfast for parents and volunteers, followed by the orientation. Afterward, parents can leave but volunteers will be required to stay until 4:30 p.m. for an all-day, hands-on orientation/workshop. Lunch for youth volunteers will be provided.
