Recent research by a University of Houston-Victoria faculty member and two graduate students was published in the May/June issue of IEEE Internet Computing magazine and featured on its Web site. Yun Wan, an assistant professor of computer information systems and the adviser for the master of science in the CIS graduate program, and Vaishali Kumar and Amina Bukhari co-authored the paper titled “Will the Overseas Expansion of Facebook Succeed?”
Jennifer Ripple recently was named the April Employee of the Month at the University of Houston-Victoria. Ripple is the certification analyst in the School of Education. Ripple has worked at UHV since November 2006 and her office is in Cinco Ranch. Ripple received a framed certificate and a $50 gift card.
Roberto Tonsul recently was hired as the online support technician for the University of Houston-Victoria School of Nursing. Tonsul’s duties include assisting professors and students with the technical side of online class instruction. He is working on a bachelor of science in communication degree from UHV.
Olive “Skeeter” Skelton was recently promoted to assistant branch manager of the International Bank of Commerce main branch in Bay City. Skelton has been part of the IBC team for eight years. She is involved with the American Cancer Society and is on the Core Community for Matagorda County that plans the organization’s Relay for Life Walk.
Kenny French, a financial advisor for Edward Jones, was recently honored by the firm for his job performance and was chosen as one of more than 10,000 brokers to attend the annual Managing Partners Conference in May at the Tempe, Ariz. headquarters.
Amy Mundy was recently hired as the director of annual giving at the University of Houston-Victoria. Mundy manages corporate, foundation and community annual giving programs. She previously worked in the development office of Devereux Victoria. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from UHV.
