CUERO – The search for a new city manager in Cuero will actually begin with a search for a temporary one.
On Wednesday the Cuero City Council agreed to contact Texas First Group Replacement Services, an organization of retired city managers and other city administrators who offer services on a temporary basis until a permanent replacement can be found.
Council members agreed that hiring someone on a temporary contract basis would give the city time to advertise for a full-time replacement for outgoing city manager Corlis Riedesel.
Don Davis of Texas First will appear before the city council at its next meeting, a special session on Wednesday.
Riedesel announced her retirement after more than 30 years with the city, including the last 10 as city manager. She remains on vacation until May 31 when her retirement becomes official. Cuero Police Chief Glenn Mutchler is the acting city manager.
Also during Wednesday’s special session, the council approved installing an alarm system in the city administration building. During the next meeting, the council will discuss an investigation into unknown people entering the city administration building on May 18.
Mayor Randy Saenz also appointed councilman Eric Pena as mayor pro-tem.
