BRENHAM -- Dakota Pinney pitched a five-hitter to lead Flatonia to a 7-0 win over Granger in Game 1 of their best-of-three Class 1A regional final series Thursday night at Fireman’s Park.

The Bulldogs improved to 23-5-1 and can wrap up the series with a win in Game 2, which is set for Saturday at 5 p.m. at Fireman’s Park. If the Lions (23-9) win, Game 3 will follow Game 2.

Pinney struck out eight and walked one. Brandon Williams had two hits for Flatonia and Sean Masek, Jordan Williams and Chris Migl each doubled. Granger starter Alec Wade hit four batters.
