Steve Dickinson stormed through the Rolling Thunder League with three great games to take the high score for the week.
Dickinson was on target with game of 259, 234, and 234 for a 727 total. He also rolled a 654 in another league.
Kyle Stasny, competing in the same league, also scored well with a nice 256 high game contributing towards a 655 set.
Other nice scores for the men were by Mike Osterson (650), Steve Zeplin (245-646), Darryl Mergele (644), and Tony Bennett (640).
Erin Faltysek was high for the women with high games of 202 and 200 contributing towards a 565 during summer Friday Strikers League.
Alicia Caballero posted the second high set with a nice 557 total.
Other good scores were by Gayle Boyd (556) and Christine Speer (555).
With the fall leagues completing their season and the summer leagues just now getting started, there were not many scores to report this week.
If you decide not join a summer league, you can always bowl in a weekly doubles no-tap event to keep your game in shape.
Locals in New Mexico
This week, several other Victoria bowlers and I, will journey to Albuquerque, N.M. ,to compete in the USBC Open Championships. We will be among the 63, 000 plus bowlers this year to exhibit our skills in this prestige’s event, which started on February 16th and will run through July 5th. .
With the challenging scoring conditions at the tournament, it is always a boost to the ego when we score well and cash.
Next year’s championship will be in Las Vegas and entries are now being accepted for the event. If you are interested in competing, log on to bowl.com and click on USBC Open Championships for instructions on how to get an entry form.
USBC women competing
The Women’s USBC Championships are being held in Detroit this year and former Victorian Karen Boyd (formerly Stroud) has already competed in this event. Her best scores were 685 in the singles event and 1,890 in all-events. The all-events scores keep Karen well above the 200-plus average for the last six years in this event.
No column this week
Due to being out of town, I will not have a column this week. This week’s scores will be included in the next column I post.
