GOLIAD - No need in fearing being pulled over here.

The Texas Mile is returning to the Goliad Industrial Air Park this weekend and is giving participants an opportunity to go as fast as they want.

Drivers will take on the straight 1-mile path trying to reach top speeds, with some exceeding the 200 mph mark.

"We are expecting motorcycles and cars from all over the United States," event director Shannon Matus said. "It will be a fast race and is exciting for anyone who is into motor sports."

Sign-up for the event is on Friday and the racing beings on Saturday. On Saturday the drivers/riders check in at 7:30 a.m. and the the course drive through will start at 9 a.m. Gates are opened at 9 a.m. with the competition runs beginning at 9:30 a.m.

The event is expected to bring people in from across the United States and from Canada and Mexico. The race has been featured on the SPEED Channel and Hot Rod Magazine has drawn around 160 competitors in previous years.

The competitors have the opportunity to gain a Top Speed Certificate on the course.
