Already it's being hailed as the most important film you'll ever see ever in your ever-loving lifetime.

Today, the Victoria Advocate is releasing the hotly anticipated sequel to their smash hit "The Search for the Elusive Chupacabra" video, which received over 13 hits on YouTube.

"Chupacabra II: Even Chupier" continues the Advocate's efforts to locate this mythical beast, taking us on a whirlwind two-mile-radius-of-the-newsroom journey.

Writer and lead actor Aprill Brandon was gracious enough to take some time out of her hectic schedule to answer a few questions about the making of the sequel.

Q: So, Aprill, let me just start off by saying you look fabulous.

A: Well, Aprill, how very nice of you. You're looking quite nice yourself. Did you lose weight?

Q: Well, yes I did. Thank you for noticing. But now onto the serious questions. How did this sequel come about?

A: It's quite an interesting story. A couple of months ago, I was sitting at my desk pretending to work when I thought to myself, "Hey, we should make another chupacabra video." I told my editor the idea and he gave it the green light, providing I "don't get the newspaper sued." And there you have it.

Q: Now there are some rumors out there that one of the actors was injured on the set and is looking to sue you. Is there any truth to that?

A: My lawyers have advised me not to speak about ongoing legal proceedings. So all I will say is that Advocate reporter Sonny Long is a stupid goober head who can't do his own stunts. I mean, seriously, how hard is it to jump out of a helicopter onto a speed boat going 110 miles per hour and fight off some ninjas? Honestly...

Q: You had a screening of the video just last week. What did the critics have to say?

A: Well, not to brag or anything, but already there is Oscar buzz. According to my 8-year-old cousin, Oscar, it's the funniest thing since "Spongebob Squarepants," and in my family newsletter, my mom was quoted as saying "my little pun'kin is just the cutest thing ever."

Q: Has all the fame you've received from these chupacabra videos changed you?

A: Oh no, definitely not. Just ask anyone - Hey, this is a not a non-fat latte! (throws coffee on intern) - who knows me. I'm just little 'ole Aprill. Fame has not - Quit your crying! (throws stapler at intern) - changed me.

Q: Do you really believe the chupacabra is out there?

A: Is Michael Jackson a white woman? Is the Pope Catholic? Is Orlando Bloom my future husband? Of course I do.

Q: So, any chance of making this into a trilogy?

A: Well, we were thinking about making a third one; you know, something along the lines of a group of people, a fellowship, if you will, heading out on a perilous journey across the earth in order to destroy the one chupacabra that rules them all, but "apparently" that has been done already.

So in the end, we'll probably just do the same old crap we have been doing. We even have a title already: "Chupacabra III: In 3-D."

Q: So then the rumors of the rift between you and director/producer T.C. Baker aren't true?

A: Oh no, they're totally true. He's a [expletive deleted]. I mean, he totally was trying to crush my creative vibe. He kept saying "Aprill, we can't blow up an actual building for this scene" and "No, we can't buy a $100,000 prop for this scene. Our budget is $20." Total drag, you know? But apparently no one else in the newsroom is willing to work with me anymore, so I'm stuck with him.

Life Happens is a column by Advocate reporter Aprill Brandon.

  • Great job Aprill & staff!! I'd like a movie poster (autographed) as well.
Is it just me, or is Aprill extremely hot? Are there any other guys that feel this way? Is it her comedic personality...the makeup...the whole celebrity thing...her sexy voice??
Whoa...sorry...didn't mean to go all stalker-ish there.
    When's the next Chewbaca story?

  • Awesome. It was everything a sequel should be. It was bigger, funnier (except for the Wildman in the first one, that was lightening in a bottle) and obviously had a much larger budget.

I'm just bummed I left and couldn't be a part of it. My wickedly sparse goatee would have made me a natural to play Shaggy in your Scooby Doo ending.

Great job and I gots to get me one of those movie posters.

  • aprill will you marry me?

  • I liked this video as much as I liked the first one! Maybe more! The "special effects" were too funny! Yeah I want an autographed movie poster as well -- !!!!

    October 29, 2008 at 11:37 a.m.
  • Vampires and Thinking,
Just talked to photographer T.C. Baker and he said you can purchase the poster by clicking on this link: http://victoriaadvocate.mycapture.com...
And I'd be more than happy to autograph it if you really want me to. (May be worth at least $1.50 someday).

  • Man Aprill I need a truckload of crackers to go with the amount of cheese in that story...haha...but it was funny, and I liked it. I needed a luagh this morning, and I like your sense of humor. True, I think this story has run its course, but the article was funny.

Im with surfrider on the whole midget wrestling thing making the front page. What's up with that?

Btw Aprill,I want one of those movie posters, and would it be to much to ask for it to be autographed?

    October 29, 2008 at 10:12 a.m.
  • ROFLMAO...

OMG you shouldn't release this kind of funny stuff during working hours.....

Great job Aprill and the Victoria Advocate Bogus News Team!

    More chupa!

    October 29, 2008 at 10:06 a.m.
  • Like I said about your last goofy story. You need to move to Austin. But what do you expect. Midget wrestling made the front page!!??

    October 29, 2008 at 9:57 a.m.
  • I needed that laugh this morning. Thanks Aprill and crew for a very cheesy and funny take on this. And poo on anyone who didn't appreciate it for what it was -- entertainment. :) Seriously people, lighten up, laugh a little. It'll make life easier.

    October 29, 2008 at 9:42 a.m.
  • Aprill you are so talented! I loved the story and the Oscar buzz part... lol.

Also, it's really sad how insecure some people are that they always have something negative to say about everything. And it's always the same people. I can't imagine being that way... Well, at least I'm lucky to be me and have friends like you =)

    October 29, 2008 at 9:37 a.m.
  • podunk... the name calling is totally uncalled for...remember the policy? my opinion wasn't calling anyone names as your was.

    October 29, 2008 at 9:37 a.m.
  • Boy you guys can run a story into the ground huh...

I bet when I turn 80 there will be the fatal funnel and the mangy dog still here.

    October 29, 2008 at 8:42 a.m.
  • OMG Can't you take this entertainment piece as just that...entertainment?

I think Aprill's coverage is hilarious - not everything from the Vic Ad has to make you mad or sad or even think.....

    Geez, lighten up folks....

    October 29, 2008 at 8:24 a.m.
  • All in the name of entertainment...ok. But when The Advocate is ok with their writers using comments such as "same old crap" and "He's a [expletive deleted]", it takes away the interity of the writer and the paper itself. No literal bad language was actually used, but was intended. This article would have been more enjoyable if done more professionally with the wording not reduced as it was.

    October 29, 2008 at 8:20 a.m.
  • Grade school newspaper material. Dumb, dumb dumb!!!

    October 29, 2008 at 7:18 a.m.
  • I suppose you want to read ANOTHER article about the Presidential Election, DA, Exelon, High School Cheerleaders, etc?

Relax. A little local entertainment ain't hurtin' nobody?

    October 29, 2008 at 6:44 a.m.
  • This is the kind of articles the Victoria Advocate prints?... Sad.

    October 29, 2008 at 6:38 a.m.
  • I can't wait for the video. I laughed so much on the first one. Aprill, thanks for the humor.

    October 29, 2008 at 6:33 a.m.
  • OK, Aprill, where can I get a copy of the movie poster? And when I get one, will you autograph it for me?

    October 29, 2008 at 3:16 a.m.
  • A major improvement over your other stories April, I even smiled a few times.

    October 28, 2008 at 11:21 p.m.
  • I like the whole chupacabra thing. I'm excited about your video.
Ernie--you're right. Observer is jealous. It's like being picked last in P.E.

    October 28, 2008 at 10:37 p.m.
  • "...retarded."

Not to worry, April. They said that about Galileo too. And Rembrandt, and Cecil B DeMille, Walt Disney and even the greatest filmaker of all time, Kodak.

Observer's just jealous because the voices only talk to us.

  • LEAVE APRILL alone (crying hysterically)! She's a beautiful and talented reporter/actress/Rock Band/goddess!LEAVE HER ALONE! You're just a meanie, Observer --- and you are jealous of Aprill's talent and brilliance!
Ok, now that I really sound like a scary stalker person --- Aprill, can't wait to see the video!!! We could all use a laugh ---
BTW Observer -- to understand my rant, think Brittney Spears'/Music Awards/Crying fan/YouTube....... It's a parody.... A Joke... Please don't get my comment deleted.

    October 28, 2008 at 6:03 p.m.
  • Thanks!

    October 28, 2008 at 3:59 p.m.
  • The video should be up and running by Wednesday morning. This story is set to run in the print edition tomorrow, thus the confusion. Sorry about that.

    October 28, 2008 at 3:53 p.m.
  • Your story was funny. Now where's the video? I typed in the link and it didn't work. :(
