• My compliments to the reporter - Madeline Lewis; excellent work. She not only included more than one having the desease in our area but also did awesome research for the article. Plus, she went the extra distance to interview some top notch experts in the field of ALS. Well done!

  • This disease seems to be very debilitating both on the body and the mind. However, in the case of the two people talked about in the article, Pastor Bill and Carolyn Shimek, it seems in this case as though it luckily affects people of strong faith. God bless the two of you and your stong faith based outlook on how to handle ALS. You are extraordinary people. I don't think most, including myself, would be so strong.

  • First, Godspeed to you Pastor Bill.
Second, thank you Victoria Advocate for taking advantage of this story to segway into a story of another individual.
I am in no way trying to downplay Pastor Bill's unfortuante situation. I just want to remind people that when there is a story like this; also, keep in your thoughts and prayers all the other individuals out there who are not as blessed with a circle of friends, resources, and public attention to keep them going.
