A Victoria man was transported to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio via helicopter after a utility pole fell on him and his tractor Friday afternoon.
The man was mowing about 300 yards from Sutton Mott Road when he hit the guy wire to a the pole, Victoria County Sheriff T. Michael O'Connor said.
The man was conscious and breathing and did not appear to be electrocuted, but sustained injuries, O'Connor said.
He was calling for help when a woman found him and called emergency services, which arrived around 3:30 p.m. Victoria Fire Chief Vance Riley said.
Victoria Electric Cooperative workers came to turn off the power so the man could be rescued.
The electric wire left a burn mark on the tractor, Riley said.
Raisin and Quail Creek volunteer fire departments also responded to the scene. The man's name or age was not released Friday.
