Pastor David P. Moten will not have to spend as much time rearranging chairs for services each week.

The Joy of the Lord Worship Center occasionally had to share its space in the Town Plaza Mall Hall with others. But the mall asked if the church would be interested in moving to another site in the mall when Victoria Transit became interested in the same space.

The church chose to move to an empty site two doors over under conditions the mall would clean the space and move them.

“We moved because Victoria Transit came over. But it actually came out better because it is a lot nicer,” Moten said.

The church had its first services in the new location in early September.

While the move was not much of a physical transition, the space meant something more to Moten – the church will finally have a place of its own, which Moten saw as another blessing from God.

“The Lord has blessed us. Everything you see in here, the Lord blessed us to get,” Moten said of the church’s musical instruments, sound equipment and furniture.

The apostolic Pentecostal church started in March 2007, holding its first meeting in the Town Plaza Mall Hall.
