Jill McElroy, Shiner St. Paul - Pounded down 39 kills with 32 digs in district wins over Hallettsville Sacred Heart and Bryan Allen Academy.

Sterling Jones, Calhoun - Ran for 229 yards on 24 carries with touchdown runs of 7 and 2 yards in a district-opening win over Rockport-Fulton.

Volleyball

Katie Sherman, Ganado - Had 28 assists, 11 digs and 13 aces in wins over Pettus and Nordheim.

Shaniqua Doggins, Wharton - Pounded down 13 kills with three blocks, three assists, two digs and two aces in a win over Columbia.

Sha’Rae Runnels, Edna - Served up 16 points and had 28 digs in a win over Yoakum.

Dalena Hagan, Yoakum - Finished with 24 assists, 15 digs and 14 points in a win over Stockdale and a loss to Edna.

Katie Shellenbarger, Cuero - Had 42 assists and 23 digs in losses to Poth and Palacios.

Callie Herrington, Hallettsville - finished with 81 assists, 20 digs, 17 points and six kills in wins over Schulenburg and Bellville.

Alycia Ulrich, Schulenburg - Turned in strong defensive play with 44 digs in a win over Hempstead and a loss to Hallettsville.

Jourdan Ortiz, Refugio - Had 8 receptions for 130 yards with touchdown catches of 7 and 50 yards in a win over Industrial.

Aaron Perez and Kyle Hendley, Refugio - Combined to throw for 218 yards and two touchdowns, while Hendley ran for another touchdown in a win over Industrial.

Ryan Valdez, St. Joseph - Rushed for 163 yards on four carries with TD runs of 75 and 77 yards in a win over Corpus Christi John Paul II.

Kevin Smith, Ganado - Ran for 157 yards on 19 carries with two 3-yard Td runs and an 85-yard kickoff return for a TD in a win over Danbury.

Adam Kahlich, Shiner - Scored on a 6-yard run and caught a 21-yard TD pass in a win over Palacios.

Josh Greathouse, Shiner - Rushed for 138 yards and scored on a 37-yard run in a win over Palacios.

Frank Kassner, Bloomington - Scored on runs of 20, 40 and 7 yards while rushing for 122 yards in a win over Runge.

Damien Stevens, Rice Consolidated - finished with 10 tackles and intercepted two passes running one back for a touchdown and setting up another TD with the other pick in a win over East Bernard.

Aaron Kellis, Victor Huber, Justin Priesmeyer and Jared Slaughter, Memorial - Won the 100-yard freestyle relay with a time of 43.40 seconds at the Corpus Christi ISD Sprint Invitational swimming and diving meet.

Cross Country

Maria Aguayo, Gonzales - Placed first in the Class 3A-5A girls division with a time of 12 minutes, 47 seconds at the Moulton Invitational.

Cory Barrientos, Calhoun - Won the Class 3A-5A boys division with a time of 15:49 at the Moulton Invitational.
