Comments
Henry Perez’s responses during the Victoria Advocates online interview demonstrate something essential and apparently lacking today in politics, genuine respect for the responsibilities of the office that he seeks.
He maybe seen by some as slow in speech, but I see it as being mindful and patient.
He may not be knowledgeable on every subject presented to him, but he does not demonstrate blind ignorance in judgment and exercises a real sincerity to learn the truth of things.
He is wholesome, sincere, compassionate, honest, and pragmatic.
He has served in the Army, and his presentation is a testament to the honor and fortitude of all service men and women.
While other candidates may have more education, money, and influence he lacks nothing of what Victoria City council needs, integrity.
It would be a shame if this man were denied an opportunity to bring common sense to Victoria City council at a time of senseless behavior.
He seems to be of the same character as the 500-year-old tree on his land, “salt of the earth”.
If others find I have been misled on my assessment, then I apologize.
If not, then why is he not elected? Failure would be a reflection of our character not his.
